Maryland moved quickly on Braeden Wisloski after flashing a 4.4 in the 40 dash during camp in mid-June and now, he’s a member of Maryland’s 2023 class.
Southern Columbia (PA) wide receiver Braeden Wisloski has announced his commitment to Maryland after giving his verbal the night of June 25 during his official visit. The 5-foot-9 receiver camped at Maryland back in early June before camping at Pittsburgh and then followed through with an official visit the weekend of June 24, just days after taking a midweek official visit to Rutgers. Wisloski was one of three prospects to give their pledge on Saturday night.
“I was having the best time of my life and loved every second of it because it felt like I was at home,” Wisloski said. “When we were out to eat on the boat and we were all dancing and having a good time and I just grabbed the mic and announced it.”
Sophomore tight end and fellow Pennsylvania native CJ Dippre hosted the emerging receiver target on the visit. “He did a great job of answering questions and hosting me.” He also got a chance to check out campus for the first time. “Seeing everything like the campus and facilities blew my mind and I fell in love with the place.”
Following his workout in College Park, Wisloski added he drew a comparison to a former player that wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer. “Ryan Switzer, he’s a little slot receiver so he said I reminded him of him,” Wisloski added. “I was surprised that he said that but pretty happy about it. Just because I’m so versatile, I can do a lot of things on the field with my speed.” And after his official visit, Wisloski added the slot position fits him perfectly.
“When I’m in the open and when I can run routes in open field, I don’t think many people can guard me,” he said. “He showed me some clips of what I would be doing in the slot and they get a lot of passes to them.”
Maryland was in contact every day with the emerging prospect ever since offering following camp and topped Rutgers for his commitment to give the wide receiver room another weapon in the 2023 class, joining St. Frances receiver Ryan Manning, Irvington receiver Nasir Addison and St. John’s receiver Sean Williams. “It was awesome. I had a great time with coach [Gunter] Brewer and the coaching staff. We did a lot of things and had a fun time building relationships with them.”
Wisloski announced just one day after receivers Josh Richards and Derrick Rogers went public with their commitments as Maryland has a need for additional receivers this cycle with several draft-eligible vets on the roster like Dontay Demus, Jacob Copeland, Rakim Jarrett and Jeshaun Jones. Wisloski gives the unit an underrated addition that adds electric speed to the offense and likely the return game.
As a junior, Wisloski posted 963 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 80 carries over the span of eleven games.
