Jones TE Dylan Wade Commits to Maryland

Jones (FL) three-star tight end Dylan Wade has committed to Maryland, opting for the Terps over Rutgers and Purdue.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect told the staff on Sunday evening before going public on Monday afternoon. "I knew once I was done with all my officials, I'd make my decision," he said on Monday. "The coaching staff made me feel welcome and I had a strong relationship with them already. They were happy, glad I chose their school."

Wade visited Maryland the weekend of June 17 alongside teammates Malik Bryant and Derrick Rogers as the staff rolled out the red carpet. Wade becomes the second tight end commitment in Maryland’s class in as many days, joining Loyola Blakefield tight end AJ Szymanski. "I saw what they've done with the previous tight ends so I'm trying to do that again." Wade has an idea of how he fits into the Terps offense after taking in College Park.

"Just like how they use me in high school, they'll have me in the backfield, at receiver, in the slot. Running jet sweeps, screen routes, a lot of different things. Their offense is really versatile." With Rogers and Bryant still on the Terps board, Wade will look to add to to add his teammates to Maryland's class. "They already know we can do this, we can change the program and become Big Ten champs."

He becomes the ninth commitment in Maryland’s 2023 class and fourth since Saturday, joining St. John's (DC) receiver Sean Williams, Loyola Blakefield (MD) TE Aj Szymanski and Wise (MD) defensive back Mykel Morman.

"I'm going to help, try to get a few more ballers join Terp nation."

Wade will also enroll in December. He is rated a three-star prospect and the 49th-best tight end in the country according to On3.
