Wise (MD) defensive back Mykel Morman has committed to Maryland.
The 6-foot-1 defensive back camped at Maryland back on June 17 leading to running backs coach Elijah Brooks extending an offer to the speedy athlete out of the Maryland public school powerhouse. Morman was among the group of prospects from Wise that returned to campus on June 22 to work out for the staff and posted 4.4 second in the 40 dash—multiple times.
His second trip to campus gave him a glimpse into what to expect for his official visit. “It just really made me foresee what would happen this weekend and it really excited me,” Morman told Inside the Black & Gold last week.
Morman knew heading into the weekend that Maryland was going to be the landing spot for him. “It’s local and it’s close to home and if I were to play, my parents and family can come nearby and it’s not too far. I definitely think this will be a landing spot. I really love it.”
Morman broke the school record after running a 10.64 in the 100-meter state championship and was named All-Met honorable mention this week.
Morman joins St. John’s receiver Sean Williams, St. Frances receiver Ryan Manning, St. Peters quarterback Champ Long, Loyola Blakefield tight end AJ Szymanski, McDonogh interior lineman Tamarus Walker, Madison County cornerback Jonathan Akins and Irvington receiver Nasir Addison.
