Maryland is keeping a towering local lineman home.
Linganore (Md.) three-star offensive tackle Kendon Bauer has announced his commitment to Maryland coming off his official visit.
Bauer, listed at 6-foot-6.5, 327-pounds, committed to Maryland with offers from Arkansas, Indiana, Rutgers and Boston College while both Ohio State and Notre Dame showed interest through the spring. He also becomes the third offensive lineman in Maryland's class this cycle alongside Caleb Canty and Abdus Kone.
"They’ve coached for like 45 years so I know they can develop me because coach Hal, he’s been through NFL, college teams. Coach Wrobo, I trust him with my heart and soul," Bauer told IBG.
Assistant Damian Wroblewski has led the way with the in-state target through his junior season into the spring while head coach Mike Locksley visited his school in January and Bauer returned for a spring practice in April. Michael Hershey and Logan Bennett also served as his player hosts on Bauer's official visit with Maryland a school he's plenty familiar with.
"I’ve been there so many times, I go to meetings with coach Wrobo, coach Hal [Hunter] and we do like techniques and stuff. But just hanging out with everyone, yeah it was super fun."
After ending his junior season as a 3A state champion after Linganore dominated Oakdale, 56-17, Bauer was named first-team All State and County as he now becomes the first Power Four offensive lineman out of his school since former Rams offensive tackle Rob Havenstein.
