With June serving as the month of summer official visits, a flurry of prospects across the country have started eyeing commitments heading into July. Maryland has added ten commits over the last 17 days and while a handful more will announce in the next few weeks, a pair of Florida targets have officially announced their top three and have set an imminent commitment date.
Four-star linebacker/safety Michael Harris and four-star linebacker Andrew Harris announced a top three in an exclusive interview with USA Today. Maryland, Michigan State and UCF are the finalists for the Lake Brantley. Maryland was the first school to host them back on June 3 followed by an official visit to UCF the weekend of June 10 then to Michigan State the weekend of June 17. They broke down what led to their top group with a looming commitment date.
Maryland: “They’re a very good program, great coaching staff. I see myself playing there also and the atmosphere was crazy. I’m talking about crazy. Overall, it’s just a great place to be,” Andrew said.
Michigan State: “[Mel] Tucker is a real dude. I can see that because everything he told us is that we’re going to have to earn what we do there so I love that with Michigan State. Another reason why I love Michigan State is because the coaches there, the staff, I can see myself playing there as soon as I go there. Not only that, I think I can change MSU into a great program,” Michael said.
“I also think that their business management and all that education stuff is really good. They’re very great at what they do football-wise and they really have their players up to their expectation, to their standard,” Andrew said.
UCF: “We love UCF. [Travis Williams], Gus Malzahn is real dudes, coach [Kenny] Ingram. I love how the atmosphere down there is great, they’re building something great going to the Big 12 and I think it’s close to home where I get to see family and friends and my girlfriend,” Michael said. “Not only that but I can see myself playing at UCF, staying there for three years straight and dominating the Big 12 when we go there,” Andrew added.
The twins will announce on Wednesday, July 6.
