Maryland visit exceeds expectations for '26 Florida LB Brian Harris

2026 Mandarin (FL) edge Brian Harris made the trip from Duke to Maryland last weekend as the 6-foot-3, 250-pound early target took in College Park for the first time with his family. Maryland jumped in with an offer back in February to become the second Power Four school to jump into the mix but the Terps are a bit more familiar for Harris in the early stages. “Coach Brian Williams, he's been talking to me for a minute because his brother coaches at my school,” Harris told IBG. “He also played high school ball with my personal trainer so I hear a lot of stories and a lot about his personality from players. And he’s really close with one of my trainers, Bradley Jennings.” https://twitter.com/BriangonD1/status/1777488839721824327 Projected as an inside linebacker at the next level, Harris got a chance to sit in position meetings before watching practice where he left impressed with Williams’ coaching style. “When I first met him in person, it was during practice, I just saw him walking so I shook his hand. Then when I was at Maryland, it was a great experience. I loved his energy. The way he coaches, his knowledge of the game is unbelievable honestly. I was in the defensive line meeting, seeing the comradery with the teammates made me understand he's a main source of their energy. Just the way he coaches, I learned a lot from him when I was there. I had a chance to sit with coach Locks and coach Thompson. Coach Locks is another outstanding coach, he has a lot of experience too.” While Harris grew familiar with Maryland’s co-defensive coordinator, his knowledge about the ins and outs of the program was limited but his latest visit “went above and beyond” what he first envisioned. “The only thing I knew was the video of the facilities online. I know more about the coaching staff now, but it definitely exceeded my expectations.” With no further visits set up heading into the rest of April, Harris will shift his attention toward spring ball as he battles back from injury ahead of Mandarin’s spring game in May. Brian Harris is not yet rated by On3.
