Virginia DL Eric Mensah inching closer towards decision

After a hectic June featuring three official visits to Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech, Mountain View (VA) three-star defensive lineman Eric Mensah is inching closer towards a decision. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman admitted he’s likely done with visits as Maryland and Virginia Tech jockey for pole position in his recruitment down the stretch. “Right now, I’m just finalizing everything,” Mensah told IBG. “Probably either at the end of this month or on September 1.” The lone school that Mensah did not officially visit—or has yet to pick up an offer from—is Ohio State, who hosted him for a camp in late June as they continue to show interest. “We’re still talking. They’re still evaluating me but said they haven’t made a decision yet. They said they’ll give me an answer before the end of this month.” The Buckeyes’ looming possibility of an offer has extended Mensah’s timeline as he’s taken the dead period to separate his top contenders. Donate to TBIAF today Maryland’s defensive line coach Brian Williams was able to sit down with the versatile edge rusher during his official visit the weekend of June 16th, but it’s been inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson whose led the way throughout Mensah’s recruitment. “ has been very good. We’ve talked about my role, what I’d do when I go there,” Mensah said about Maryland. ”I love a lot. They treat me like family.” Virginia was first to host Mensah for an official visit before the Hokies closed the month out with an official visit, and they’ve got the juice on the recruiting trail with its local recruiting targets. That hasn’t phased Mensah, though. “It’s all the same. At the end of the day, it’s all about education.” Mensah is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the 17th-best prospect in Virginia. Related Links
