Maryland hosted a handful of local programs this week as they worked out and practiced inside the Jones-Hill House as Rock Creek (MD) made their way to campus on Monday, leading the staff to offer a trio of 2023 prospects.
Offensive tackle Kahari Finley had a feeling the hometown school would pull the trigger as the 6-foot-5, 280-pound prospect reeled in his second offer. “I knew that they were going to offer me but just not today so I just did everything that I needed to do,” Finley told Inside the Black and Gold. “Ran the 40 and coach Locks liked me so he offered. I had a meeting with him. He liked my athleticism. He liked that I can move, he liked my size and all that.”
2024 Mike Williams, a new offensive tackle for Rock Creek after transferring in from Bishop McNamara, was ecstatic to pick up the offer from the hometown school. “It’s home so my family can always see me play and it’s Big Ten football, one of the best conferences in college. You go to Ohio State, Northwestern, Penn State. You’re not really losing anything because you’re still playing competition.” Defensive end Anthony Little, a former 2022 prospect, reclassified into the 2023 class this month as an offseason spent reshaping his frame translated into quickness off the edge. “I think they saw my size and how fast I was coming off the edge,” Little added. “I talked to coach Locks. We were in the office and he told me that I was one of the top recruits.”
Formerly at National Christian Academy, the Terps have been working to add the talent coached by Andre Kates for years as the staff will have a strong opportunity to do so. Finley was impressed with his first trip to Maryland.
“I like the facilities, all the coaches, I like coach Braswell, coach Locksley is cool. It was an experience for sure. I like how coach Braswell is real technical and he’s one of the best offensive line coaches in the country. He’s very technical, he really knows a lot about the game and a lot about O-line and I just really like that.”
Williams also holds the Terps program in high regards. “Maryland has always been one of my dream schools it felt great.” The group also got a chance to take in a tour of the Terps’ new indoor facility. “I thought it was beautiful. How much money they spent on it, it was really worth it,” Williams added.
Finley doubled down on the newest facility. “Maryland, the facility, and all the players. It felt like home when I was going up there. If you come to this school you’ll get the best of the best. I feel like Maryland is doing their thing right now and I just like that.”
