Saint Francis DL Eyan Thomas announces transfer to Maryland

Maryland football has landed another portal commitment earlier this afternoon, this time along the defensive line as Saint Francis defensive lineman Eyan Thomas has gone public with his decision.

 

Thomas, a 6-foot-4, 336-pound defensive line, committed to Maryland after visiting this weekend where he becomes the first portal commitment along the defensive line. IBG reported on Maryland's efforts on the all-conference selection one day ago.

 

After appearing in four games during the 2023 season, the Chichester (PA) product posted 37 tackles, seven TFLs and 3.5 sacks in 11 games in 2024. He has three years of eligibility left. After becoming a dominant piece for Saint Francis where he was named an All-NEC First Team selection, two years after LB Donnell Brown drew the same honor at the same school.

 

The defensive line became a priority focus for Maryland this cycle after watching their top four contributors from 2024 depart as Taizse Johnson, Tommy Akingbesote and Quashon Fuller exhausted their eligibility while Jordan Phillips declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

 

Thomas now joins as part of the future of the defensive line while Lavon Johnson and Dillon Fontus return for their third seasons with the program.
