Head coach Mike Locksley landed a productive portal addition at a position of need as Georgia State TE Dorian Fleming has committed. On3 reported that Fleming has signed with the program.

Fleming, a 6-foot-3, 234-pound tight end originally from Henrico, Va., committed to Maryland fresh off his visit to College Park on Dec. 20 as assistant Latrell Scott led the way with the one-time regional prospect.

Fleming announced his return to Georgia State on Dec. 10 before entering the transfer portal one week later with a do-not contact tag.

Fleming’s announcement comes after both Preston Howard and Dylan Wade elected to enter the transfer portal, overhauling a position that’s seen ample turnover over the last two seasons. But at a position that’s become a focal point in Mike Locksley’s offense, Fleming’s addition gives Maryland a key foundational piece at the position.

After redshirting in 2023, Fleming posted 558 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 49 catches where he quickly took over the unit – and subsequently, the production in the passing attack. He finished second on the team in receiving yards, averaging 11.4 yards per catch, while he posted 88 yards and three touchdowns on five catches in a 52-44 win at Texas State. Fleming ended his second season with the program named an All-Sun Belt Second Team Offense selection.

Fleming joins TEs AJ Szymanski and Leon Haughton, who are both currently with the team, while Calvert Hall (MD) three-star signee JT Taggart will enroll in June of 2025.

Fleming is rated the seventh-best tight end and 106th-best overall prospect in the transfer portal. He’ll head to College Park in January with three years of eligibility remaining.
