Maryland has now landed its second pledge from its second official visit weekend after Lakeland (FL) three-star offensive tackle Ben Beymer has gone public with his pledge, one day after wrapping up his trip north to College Park. “Coaches were really nice, everybody was really nice and really wanted me so it was great,” Beymer told IBG. “I feel like we clicked just as much in person as we did leading up to it.” Assistants Kevin Sumlin, Brian Braswell and Damian Wroblewski led the way as the 6-foot-8, 294-pound lineman made his way to campus, giving the staff his pledge on Friday night. “When we were watching film with the coaches, that was when I knew that was where I wanted to be,” he added. “We got to eat together on the boat, that was really nice.” Freshman offensive lineman Ryan Howerton filled in as Beymer’s host for his official visit and with Texas A&M, Georgia Tech and FAU among the schools in the mix through the spring, Maryland was the biggest threat in the race as they closed on the Florida lineman. “The relationships with the coaches are really important. I’m going to go somewhere that really wants me. I want to go to a program where I feel that and feel at home,” he previously told IBG. In addition to playing basketball through high school, Beymer lined up at right tackle as a junior and adds the type of size to the tackle room that Maryland has looked for in both the portal and high school ranks. He becomes the first tackle commit and second offensive line commit this cycle alongside Philly interior lineman Kahlil Stewart. Beymer also becomes the ninth commitment of the cycle, joining Julien Horton, Jett White, CJ Smith, Bud Coombs, Justin DeVaughn, Braheem Battles and JT Taggart. Ben Beymer is rated a three-star prospect and an 84 overall by On3. Related Links
