Maryland "feels like home" for CB Lakhi Roland after official visit

Cedar Grove (GA) three-star cornerback Lakhi Roland has kept his recruitment slightly open since committing to Maryland back in mid-April less than one week after unofficially visiting campus, but the Georgia product returned to College Park for his official visit over the weekend where he felt the same feeling that once drove him to commit. “It feels like home,” Roland told IBG. “I got a chance to sit with everybody—coach Locksley, coach Baker, coach Braswell.” With sophomore cornerback Gavin Gibson serving as Roland’s host for his official, the highlight was the dinner boat on Saturday night that, once again, proved to produce multiple commitments for Maryland’s 2024 class. “We had gone on a cruise and it was just the whole Maryland family together, partying and having a good time.” Louisville hosted Roland for an official visit last weekend while USF is the second school working to change his mind. Roland’s decision to entertain other schools wasn’t viewed as a concern coming out of the weekend with him making it clear to the staff he knows where he wants to play his college ball. “They didn’t really press the situation like that. As far as Louisville, coach , coach Baker, coach Braswell, they all know where home is,” Roland told IBG. Roland added his trip to Maryland is “probably my last visit” with no set plans to check out USF before the dead period at the end of the month. What did come out of the weekend was Roland and his family getting a chance to reconnect with the coaching staff as the lone defensive back commit thus far. “Everything was the same. I’ve been there before so it was pretty much what I was already expecting. Definitely still home.” Roland is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, sitting as the 123rd-best prospect in Georgia. Related Links
