Four-star Trent Perry includes Maryland among finalists ahead of set commitment date

Months after his official visit to College Park, four-star Trent Perry includes Maryland among his finalists ahead of his upcoming commitment this week.

Perry, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound wing out of Link Academy (TX), will announce his commitment at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 1 between Kansas, Maryland and TCU, eliminating Vanderbilt from a top group announced earlier in the month.

Perry is one week removed from an official visit to TCU and two weeks removed from visiting Kansas with the Jayhawks the newest school to jump into the picture. Maryland, meanwhile, reoffered Perry shortly after head coach Buzz Williams finalized his staff and began rebuilding the 2026 recruiting board, turning back to a target his staff previously targeted and hosted for an official visit while at Texas A&M.

Perry kicked off the first of three official visits with a trip to Maryland back on July 29 where he reconnected with the players, including redshirt freshman George Turkson.

“I got to sit down with coach [Lyle] Wolf to break down my film and their film to see how I fit in. it’s a great situation. He’s a hard, aggressive, defensive coach so I really feel like that fits my play style,” Perry told IBG following the visit. “Coach Wolf, when we were watching film they were saying I’m like Solomon Washington. They had a player at A&M two years ago, too, pretty similar. Hard defensive guys, spread the floor and just playing our roles.”

The 6-foot-5 small forward out of Link Academy averaged 15.7 points and one steal per game during EYBL Session 1 in April while his seven rebounds per game were among the session’s leaders.

On3: Trent Perry plays with a non-stop motor. He is consistently diving in the floor or doing his best to create extra possessions for his team. Most of his offense is through lobs or in transition. He is going to need to develop the creation and jump shot, but he has a clear affect on the games he plays.
