Former FSU DL Quashon Fuller announces transfer to Maryland

Maryland has added a key piece out of the transfer portal on the defensive side of the ball.

Former Florida State defensive lineman Quashon Fuller announced his transfer to Maryland on Friday night, helping fill a key need along the defensive line for the upcoming season. Fuller was no longer listed on the Seminoles’ updated roster back in late April before entering the portal three days later.

Maryland defensive line coach Brian Williams and head coach Mike Locksley pitched in to reel in Fuller for an official visit back on April 29, one of two defensive linemen who visited for Maryland’s spring game, as the Terps were first to enter the picture. Locksley’s relationship with Fuller’s camp helped give the Terps the immediate edge for the 6-foot-3, 261-pound defensive lineman. Fuller joins the program as a defensive end where he’ll shore up the unit alongside Mosiah Nasili-Kite and Ami Finau as they replace Sam Okuayinonu.

After appearing in two games as a redshirt freshman during the 2019 season, Fuller saw playing times in four games during the shortened 2020 COVID season when he finished with three total tackles. As a redshirt sophomore, Fuller appeared in eleven games and recorded eight tackles and one sack. His one sack came in last year’s season opening loss against eighth-ranked Notre Dame when he also finished with 1.5 tackles for loss. Fuller graded above average four times during the 2021 season, per Pro Football Focus, and played a season-high 21 snaps in Florida State's week three road loss against Wake Forest.

Fuller remained in a reserve role with the Seminoles this spring after coveted defensive end transfer Jared Verse landed in Tallahassee earlier this offseason, prompting the Florida native to head elsewhere.

Out of high school, the former four-star prospect out of Lehigh Senior (FL) committed to Florida State during his sophomore and stuck with the ‘Noles even after Jimbo Fisher bolted for Texas A&M. Fuller took late official visits to Alabama, Auburn and Louisville but stuck with the hometown program.

Fuller joins Maryland with three years remaining of eligibility while the staff now has six available scholarships ahead of the fall.
