The attrition bug hit Maryland one last time this spring as sophomore offensive tackle Liridon Mujezinovic became the latest name to enter the transfer portal on Sunday morning.
Mujezinovic joins defensive tackle Andre Porter along with cornerbacks Kenny Bennett and Lavonte Gater who have hit the transfer portal since Friday. Mujezinovic joined the program with limited football experience but ample potential given his soccer background and rave reviews from former Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander, which promptly placed him on offensive line coach Brian Braswell’s radar.
Mujezinovic took an official visit back in January before signing and enrolling later that month, becoming one of five offensive tackles in Maryland’s 2022 class.
“I’ve got a sense of relief and I don’t want to call it stress, but it’s a big school,” Mujezinovic said at the time of his commitment. “It’s the Big Ten conference, in my opinion, the biggest conference in the states and then playing with Maryland I know the competition is going to be tough, especially for me who hasn’t played that much. I’m going to play against the defensive linemen at Maryland and that’s going to be tough. I have confidence and that’s mainly because the coaching staff is confident in me.”
Mujezinovic was rated the tenth-best JuCo offensive tackle in the 2022 class and began his football career back in 2019 for the Amsterdam Crusaders. He now has four years to play three elsewhere.
With the latest news, Maryland has five available scholarships for the 2022 season. Meanwhile, Inside the Black & Gold was first to accurately report a pair of transfer targets visiting Maryland this weekend.
