One day after adding a former college basketball guard to the linebacker room in Jordan Williams, two departures have now been confirmed for Maryland football.
Linebacker Keyshawn Flowers and walk-on quarterback Devin Kargman have both departed the program, a source confirmed on Thursday morning.
Flowers is the more notable name for Maryland fans given the local ties. The former Archbishop Spalding three-star prospect committed to Maryland over Miami (FL) while Notre Dame rounded out his top group to become one of the key parts of the 2024 class, a cycle that also landed running back DeJuan Williams, linebacker Trey Reddick and likely starting guard Ryan Howerton among others.
Flowers missed just two games during his two seasons with the program, but after tallying six total tackles as a true freshman, the local linebacker finished with 30 total tackles, 1.5 TFLs and one sack in 2025.
Flowers is among the large group of prospects to head to College Park after winning an MIAA Championship at Archbishop Spalding with Malik Washington, Jayden Shipps, Lavain Scruggs, Sean Johnson and Delmar White now reunited with their former head coach, Kyle Schmitt, after being named the new tight ends coach in 2026. Keyshawn's twin brother, Keion, also joined the program at the same time but opted to depart the program ahead of the 2025 season.
Kargman was one of three portal additions for Maryland at the position this offseason alongside former D2 Graceland transfer Max Lawrence and Sacramento State transfer Cardell Williams, though the New Jersey native also joined the program as a walk-on addition. The chance to stabilize the room with experienced depth has been the goal with the portal route providing a chance to add that, yet all eyes have remained centered on Malik Washington's year two jump as he now pairs with new offensive coordinator Clint Trickett beginning in 2026.
Kargman, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound redshirt junior, played in seven games over the last two seasons where he threw for 506 yards and five touchdowns against three interceptions while completing 53.5% of his passes. Kargman also finished 29-of-70 and threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns against three interceptions as a true freshman in 2022. After opening as the starter in 2024, Kargman was sidelined for the final eight games after suffering a hip injury before being carted off the field.
