Maryland men’s basketball’s roster has officially met the scholarship limit for the 2023-24 season. Junior forward Pavlo Dziuba entered the transfer portal with one additional year of eligibility after playing sparingly over his two seasons in College Park.
Pavlo Dziuba, a 6-foot-8 forward originally from Ukraine, arrived at Maryland with high hopes but played in 46 minutes across 14 games, scoring three points against Quinnipiac during the 2021-22 season. Dziuba, once the youngest player in college basketball at 19 years old, began his career at Arizona State where he appeared in eight games. Dziuba signed with the program under former head coach Mark Turgeon, but once Kevin Willard arrived in College Park, Dziuba quickly fell out of the rotation as the frontcourt is restocked heading into the fall.
Julian Reese returns for a potential breakthrough junior season, Donta Scott bolsters the room after electing to use his COVID year while former Indiana transfer Jordan Geronimo announced his transfer roughly two weeks ago. Maryland also returns second-year center Caelum Swanton-Rodger to iron out the depth behind Reese, while former IMG Academy (FL) three-star center Braden Pierce signed with the program earlier this month.
Maryland also returns Jahmir Young to a backcourt that features Ian Martinez, Deshawn Harris-Smith, Jahari Long and Jahnathan Lamothe as the Terps enter the heart of the offseason as a frequent mention among preseason top 25 polls.
Maryland announced plans to embark on an international tour beginning July 31, stopping through Venice, Rome, Florence and Lake Como along with three exhibition games.
