IOL Robby Martin talks recent Maryland visit, top eight, summer visit schedule

As Maryland is in dire need to find interior lineman to solidify the future offensive line, one regional prospect they’ve kept tabs on is Huntington (WV) three-star Robby Martin.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound lineman took to Twitter to release a top eight including Georgia Tech, WVU, Miami, Maryland, NC State, Tennessee, Illinois and Penn State last week as he looks ahead to the next step in his recruitment and summer visits. “I’m glad I got here. I feel like they’ve recruited me really hard,” Martin told IBG. “They’re all good programs and I like the coaches and they’d be some good schools.”

All it took was one visit to Maryland to keep the Terps under consideration after visiting for the spring game.

“I really liked it. Definitely a place I can see myself play at.” Wide receiver Gunter Brewer has kept tabs on the interior lineman while Martin’s visit for the spring game gave him a chance to meet his potential position coach.

“I met coach [Brian] Braswell. I got to meet one of their recruiters, but coach Braswell is a really good coach. Me and him vibe. We had a great talk when I was there. He’s really a good guy and if I come, he’s a good man and he’ll really guide me down the right path.”

Martin also got a chance to sit in position meetings that day as the Terps checked off a few boxes. “I did get to see how they break everything down. I didn’t see too much but just getting a feel for everything was good.”

Martin will look ahead to his summer schedule where he could camp at a handful of his top suitors, but for now, he’s looking at three official visits.

“I’ve got WVU NC State and Penn State already scheduled. WVU is June 9, NC State is June 16 and Penn State is June 23.”

Martin is rated a three-star prospect and an 88 overall by On3, sitting as the top-rated prospect in West Virginia.
