The full schedule for the upcoming Players Era 16 has officially been announced with Maryland men’s basketball set to kick off the slate of games.
Maryland and Tennessee will tipoff at 3 PM EST on Tuesday, Nov. 24 ahead of Iowa State - San Diego State. It’s a welcomed tipoff time after facing both Alabama and UNLV at midnight EST in last year’s tournament appearance, along with a 9:30 PM EST tip against Gonzaga. If Maryland beats Tennessee, Maryland would face the winner of Iowa St-San Diego St at 1:30 PM on Thursday, Nov. 26 while a loss would result in a 9 PM ET tipoff also on Nov. 26. Third, seventh and fifth place games along with the semifinal are all set for Nov. 27.
The two teams last met back on Dec. 11, 2022 when the Vols held off a second-half comeback in a 56-53 finish at the Barclays Center.
Maryland will look to fare better in the modified 2026 tournament after dropping two of three games, including both against ranked opponents, in year one under Buzz Williams. The opening game will also serve as a reunion of sorts with four returning Vols along with head coach Rick Barnes adding a familiar face for new Maryland guard Bishop Boswell, who could play both on and off the ball in his first season with the program.
News of five additional home games for the upcoming 2026-27 schedule was also released last week, making dates and times for the upcoming conference slate likely the last bit of schedule news needed to finalize the full year two schedule.
The Big Ten previously announced conference opponents for the upcoming season with Maryland facing Indiana, Michigan State and Rutgers twice. Maryland will also host Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin while traveling to Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue and Washington.
