Details for additional Maryland men's basketball home games in 2026-27

Head coach Buzz Williams should see his team battle through a strong non-conference schedule for the second consecutive season with a "road" game against Georgetown, home game vs. Virginia along with neutral site games against both South Carolina and Tennessee. The quartet of games adds firepower for fans looking to see early season tests, albeit with better results than 2025-26. Yet additional details in the non-conference slate emerged earlier this week, per Rocco Miller of Bracketeer.org.

Maryland will host Bucknell on Nov. 2 in likely the home opener as they look to go 10-0 with the meeting marking the first since 2024.

After traveling to face Georgetown then hosting Virginia, Maryland will host Alcorn State for the second consecutive season with a chance to move to 5-0 in the series. Maryland will then host Wagner on Nov. 20, also for the second consecutive season with a chance to move to 5-0 in the series.

Maryland will then head to Las Vegas for the Players Era Tournament with a first round game against Tennessee already announced, but they'll then return to College Park to host American on Dec. 2. It will mark a homecoming of sorts for Duane Simpkins, the DMV legend who shined at DeMatha before becoming a three-time All-ACC honorable mention selection at Maryland after being part of a pair of Sweet 16 runs and rankings eighth in program history in assists. The meeting also marks the first between the two local teams since 2016 with Maryland owning a 16-2 lead in the series.

South Carolina will then face Maryland in the previously announced game at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore before hosting Radford on Dec. 29.

Though dates have yet to be formally announced, the Big Ten previously announced conference opponents for the upcoming season with Maryland facing Indiana, Michigan State and Rutgers twice. Maryland will also host Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin while traveling to Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue and Washington.

Maryland will look to turn the page from a 12-win season with several experienced portal additions leading the roster overhaul alongside former five-star Baba Oladotun, while athletic director Jim Smith's announcement regarding Pharrel Payne's waiver approval served as the official announcement that the star center is back anchoring the frontcourt.
