Son of former Terp star commits to finalize 2025-26 roster for Maryland men's basketball

Maryland men’s basketball has now finalized its 2025-26 roster after Olympia High School (FL) guard Nick Blake has announced his commitment, becoming the second of the day, third in five days from the high school ranks and fourth commitment total.

Blake is also the son of Steve Blake, a former Maryland star guard who became an All-ACC selection before spending 14 seasons in the NBA. Nick is one of two currently at Olympia with Nick’s younger brother, Jamison Blake, preparing for his second year of varsity basketball as a junior at Olympia.

As a senior, Blake averaged 10.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 38% from three (76-for-198), 39% from the field and 69% from the free-throw line. He notched 14 points in a seven-point win against University Christian back on Jan. 11, along with 23 points against Oakridge in the season-opening win vs. Oakridge. Blake was also selected to play in the Cure All-Star game back on March 26.

Blake becomes the latest in a deep backcourt on the 2025-26 roster with former Indiana guard Myles Rice expected to take over as lead guard.

Blake also becomes the fifth 2025 commit of the cycle alongside Darius Adams, Jaziah Harper, Guillermo Del Pino and Aleks Alston after head coach Buzz Williams took over a class with just one commit.

With the team expected to move onto campus this week ahead of the start of practice next week, Blake now the rest of the high school signees in addition to David Coit (Kansas), Myles Rice (Indiana), Andre Mills (Texas A&M), Isaiah Watts (Washington State), Solomon Washington (Texas A&M), Rakease Passmore (Kansas) , Elijah Saunders (Virginia), George Turkson (Texas A&M), Pharrel Payne (Texas A&M) and Collin Metcalf (Northeastern) in College Park.
