Maryland men's basketball pivots quickly, adds former Kansas guard Rakease Passmore

After missing out on four-star Sebastian Wilkins, head coach Buzz Williams and Maryland men’s basketball have pivoted quickly to add one more to the roster.

Former Kansas freshman Rakease Passmore has announced his transfer to Maryland.

Passmore, a 6-foot-5 guard originally from Florida, appeared in 23 games at Kansas while he averaged 0.7 points in 23 games. His career-high five points came against Furman back on Nov. 30 while the former four-star recruit reunites with David Coit, who spent 2024-25 at Kansas, in the Terps' backcourt next fall.

Passmore originally committed to Kansas over Wake Forest, LSU, Oklahoma and Mississippi State among others as the former top-50 prospect rounds out the backcourt in year one.

Passmore becomes the 12th offseason addition and joins David Coit, Pharrel Payne, Solomon Washington, George Turkson, Elijah Saunders, Myles Rice, Isaiah Watts, Darius Adams, Collin Metcalf and Guillermo Del Pino in College Park.

Passmore is rated the 191st-best transfer portal prospect in On3's transfer portal rankings and joins the program with three years of eligibility left.
