Maryland men's basketball adds 2025 wing Jaziah Harper

Two days after landing another transfer portal commitment, Maryland men’s basketball has its 13th addition of the offseason in the fold with 2025 Bosco Institute (IN) forward Jaziah Harper now committed to Maryland.

Harper, a 6-foot-7 guard/wing, committed to Maryland as Clemson, Baylor and Michigan were among the schools to show interest but the Terps’ longstanding ties close to Harper made the Terps the team to beat since offering back on May 12. Head coach Buzz Williams also held strong ties to Harper’s coaches dating back to his days as the head coach at Marquette.

“I’ve been talking to coach [Steve] Roccaforte and coach Lyle [Wolf] from Maryland. We’ve been talking for a couple of weeks now so I’d say the relationship is really good,” Harper told IBG.

After beginning his career in his hometown Oak Park (IL), Harper transferred to Bosco Institute ahead of his junior year where he stepped up into a two-way player as a senior. He posted a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds vs. Minnesota Prep back on Nov. 11, while shooting 4-of-5 from three in a win against Chicago Prep on Dec. 17, while using his 7-foot wingspan to improve as an on-ball defender through his senior season

“He really honed in on improving as a defender,” a source told IBG. “He defended multiple positions. It showed against DME Academy, La Lumiere against guys like [Maryland pledge] Darius Adams.”

Harper joins Darius Adams and Guillermo Del Pino in Maryland’s 2025 class as the incoming freshman is likely to redshirt in 2025-26.

Harper is expected to arrive in College Park next month as head coach Buzz Williams prepares for year one in College Park. He joins Rakease Passmore, David Coit, Pharrel Payne, Solomon Washington, George Turkson, Elijah Saunders, Myles Rice, Isaiah Watts, Darius Adams, Collin Metcalf and Guillermo Del Pino on Maryland's 2025-26 roster.
