Portal tackle Andrew Chamblee visiting Maryland in May

The college football portal opened nearly one week ago as Maryland looks to restock a handful of spots along the roster, but the offensive line remains arguably the biggest position of need heading into the 2024 season. Former Purdue IOL Josh Kaltenberger has seamlessly transitioned into the likely next starting center for the season, while former Georgia IOL Aliou Bah and Shorter OT Alan Herron have shined through the spring at right guard at right tackle. Kyle Long is back for his fourth season with the program where he looks to lock down the starting spot at left guard after starting six games in 2023, but finding another tackle is the preference as the staff scours the transfer portal to find the missing piece. Maryland was among the first schools to reach out to former Arkansas tackle Andrew Chamblee, and now, the redshirt freshman will make his way to campus with a visit set on May 10, as first reported by Pete Thamel. Chamblee is coming off a visit to Kansas State on Saturday and will visit Colorado for their spring game this upcoming Saturday. His visit to UCLA, which was initially set for April 17, is now set for May 17. A former three-star recruit out of Arkansas, Chamblee started eight games and appeared in 12 for Arkansas last season and posted a 52.2 offensive grade according to Pro Football Focus in 405 snaps. Chamblee went on to become the first Razorback named to the SEC All-Freshman team since 2020, but stepped away from the program this offseason in what head coach Sam Pittman said was a loss for the love of the game. "Andrew Chamblee just lost the love for the game and decided to start his professional, you know, start his college as a regular student career," Pittman said ahead of the start of Arkansas' spring ball. On3 ranks Chamblee as the third-best available offensive tackle in the transfer portal behind former SMU OT Marcus Bryant and former Colorado OT Savion Washington. Chamblee also ranks as the 519th-best overall prospect in the portal. Related Links
