A little over one week since his official visit, St. Vincent Pallotti (MD) safety Alex Moore has announced his commitment to Maryland.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back gave his verbal to the staff the morning of June 23 and first impressed the staff during the first 7-on-7 back on June 4. The in-state product returned to camp nearly one week later where he ran a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, despite being injured. Maryland was the first Power Five school to offer the local safety with safeties coach Wes Neighbors and running backs coach Elijah Brooks in pursuit.
“It was a big one for me. I’ve wanted that one since my freshman year, Maryland is my dream school so that meant a lot to me,” Moore told Inside the Black and Gold following the offer last week. UConn also hosted him on an unofficial visit and was in the mix for an official visit, but a conversation with safety Dante Trader during his visit to Maryland helped seal the deal.
"After dinner. I was with my host Dante [Trader], we were talking and he said it would be smart because they love me here and just the reassurance he was giving me was good. He was talking about I should come here before I start blowing up because I’m the under-the-radar guy and after the Maryland, Big Ten offer that I would start blowing up so I might as well come here. He’s right, it felt like the right decision."
Moore also got a chance to sit down with Neighbors to learn more about his fit in the secondary. "He said I’d play everywhere on the defensive side. Nickel, dime, free, all the safeties basically. He talked about how he likes my range and all that, so I’m a versatile player able to play anywhere in the secondary."
Moore added staying home "has its pros and cons but knowing the area, it does feel like an advantage for me."
"All the support and everything, it just felt homey."
Moore becomes the latest to jump into the fold as the Terps are now up to 13 commitments in the 2023 class. Moore joins Wise (MD) athlete Mykel Morman, Madison County (FL) cornerback Jonathan Akins and Irvington (NJ) cornerback Nasir Addison in the secondary and is also the sixth DMV prospect in Maryland's 2023 class. The news might not end there heading into the holiday weekend and more targets set to announce next week.

Ventured over to good ole Testudo Times to see the meltdown. Wasn't disappointed, Locksley is apparently mailing it in already...smh.
I hope one day people will stop questioning this man's ability to evaluate talent and recruit. Locksley has flaws but jeez, that ain't one.
