Maryland Offer Excites '23 Two-Sport Athlete Kaiser

Maryland conducted their first of several camps on Monday as 2023 Lake Braddock (VA) quarterback Jamie Kaiser made the trip to College Park. After the 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect threw for offensive coordinator Dan Enos, Kaiser walked away from his final camp with an offer from the Terps.

“I was in touch with coach [Brian] Stewart so I was going to come anyway. He said coach [Dan] Enos was excited so I came in and threw pretty well,” Kaiser told Inside the Black & Gold. “They said they liked I have a good, athletic frame, pretty tall, strong arm and they can really use my athleticism.” Kaiser has already taken in camps at Duke, NC State, and Vanderbilt but the Terps’ camp on Monday was one that he’s been looking forward to for quite some time.

“I knew I was going to have to work out but I’ve just kind of wanted one because Maryland, I’ve been going to Maryland since I was like six years old. Like I’ve always wanted to be there. My dad’s cousin went there and then went to the NFL and then my dad originally committed there but unfortunately because of grades, he had to play Division II but I’ve always been familiar with Maryland.”

After throwing for Enos, Kaiser got a chance to meet with head coach Mike Locksley. “I went into coach Locksley’s office, we had like a 30-minute conversation then got a tour in.” With the offer in hand, the Virginia prospect could return this summer for a personalized unofficial visit. “I should be going sometime soon, maybe July or late June they said.” While the recruiting process is only starting for Kaiser, the 2023 prospect has already drawn interest as a basketball prospect with St. Joe’s, George Mason, Coastal Carolina, Southern Utah, and Long Beach State all extending offers.

Kaiser is the second two-sport athlete for Team Durant, joining 2023 athlete Rodney Gallagher who will also trek to Maryland later this week. After averaging 27 points and nine rebounds as a junior, Kaiser views himself as a true athlete with a relentless work ethic.

“I’m just an athlete.”

Kaiser is not yet rated by 247Sports.
