As head coach Mike Locksley and the staff welcome their first group of official visitors beginning Thursday, Maryland made the top group for Central Catholic (PA) three-star athlete Bradley Gompers heading into June. Gompers, a 6-foot-4.5, 205-pound athlete, included Duke, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pitt, Rutgers and West Virginia. While several assistants have been able to build a relationship with the athlete target, Gompers made his way to College Park back in mid-April where he picked up an offer as the Terps evaluate him as a potential tight end and outside linebacker prospect. “They’re recruiting me at both linebacker and tight end, they haven’t set a position yet and in the coming months, they’ll figure that out,” Gompers added after his visit. “I’m not sure what I’m going to play in college yet, I’ll have to decide that eventually. I like it when some of these schools keep it open for me to decide and not pigeonholing me into a spot.” Spvaital has led the way with the Pennsylvania target after tracking him through his junior season for both football and basketball. “We talk on the phone here and there and he came up to see me a while back when I played basketball. It’s a great school so I’m excited to get that offer. They talked about an official visit later this summer so we’ll get that worked out, and probably take one in early June. They’re definitely in my priority schools now.” Gompers is set to officially visit Michigan State this weekend and Duke the weekend of June 7 ahead of an expected summer commitment. Maryland enters June with six commitments in the 2025 class with a pair hailing from Pennsylvania in Central Catholic (PA) three-star DT Braheem Battles and St. Joseph's Prep (PA) three-star IOL Kahlil Stewart. Bradley Gompers is rated a three-star prospect and an 86 overall by On3, ranked the 27th-best prospect in Pennsylvania and the nation's 64th-best athlete. After missing the bulk of his junior season due to a broken collarbone, Gompers returned for the playoffs to help Central Catholic into the WPIAL title game, a game he posted 17 tackles and a defensive touchdown, before shifting over to basketball season.
