Maryland made the top group for an elite local prospect on Friday night
DeMatha (MD) four-star defensive tackle Jason Moore announced a top five of Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State on Friday night as the Terps remain in the picture.
The 6-foot-6, 255-pound returned to campus this spring during Maryland’s spring practices and has made himself a frequent visitor through the years. “It’s a lot of hospitality, the hometown team. That was my second time seeing the coaches in person, so we just keep building the relationship,” Moore said last fall. With defensive line coach Brian Williams and running backs coach Elijah Brooks leading the way, Moore also visited for the season-opening win over West Virginia last fall. “They really get after the quarterback, long distance downs. They make a lot of subs and get pressure, so I like that.”
Maryland will work to get him on campus this summer for an official visit as the staff works to replenish the depth along the defensive line after taking several in the 2021 class.
The Irish have been pegged as the longtime favorites in his recruitment while the Terps along with their Big Ten foes work to change his mind.
Moore is rated a four-star prospect and a 94 overall by On3, sitting as the second-best prospect in Maryland and 86th overall nationally.
