St. Frances (MD) four-star defensive end Dashawn Womack released his top group of schools on Sunday afternoon with the Terps still in the mix.
Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Ole Miss and Oregon made the cut for the 6-foot-4, 245-pound edge rusher as Inside the Black & Gold previously reported all schools have or will receive an official visit from the priority Maryland target. Womack kicked off his official visits with a trip to Georgia back in late May before making his way to College Park the weekend of June 3. Inside linebacker coach Lance Thompson has done well breaking into the Baltimore powerhouse and establishing strong relationships with Womack among the priority targets as the staff looks to keep one of the elite edge rushers close to home.
“He’s a real cool dude. I mess with him, he really cares about you,” Womack previously told Inside the Black & Gold while head coach Mike Locksley has also chipped in. “He’s been saying basically stay home and come home play for the home team.”
Some of the schools in his recruitment have familiarity already as he looks to get back to schools. Former St. Frances linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson is preparing for his second season at Georgia while Womack got a chance to hang with former teammate Demon Clowney while at Ole Miss. Womack has previously taken a two-day unofficial visit to LSU as he’ll return to campus this month.
A commitment is expected later this fall.
Womack is rated a four-star prospect and a 95 overall by On3, sitting as the top prospect in Maryland and the 58th-best prospect in the country.
