Maryland already announced the matchup against potential top-ten team Tennessee days ago but now, the Terps non-conference slate takes shape ahead of Kevin Willard’s first season as head coach.
Per Rocco Miller, Maryland will host the following opponents:
November 7: Niagara
November 15: Binghampton
November 25: Coppin State
December 14: UCLA
December 22: Saint Peter’s
December 29: UMBC
Maryland is 2-0 all-time against Niagara with the last matchup back on March 19, 2013 as Nick Faust, Dez Wells, Seth Allen, Logan Aronhalt and Charles Mitchell all finished in double-figures en route to a 86-70 win.
The Terps last matchup against Coppin State was a 70-63 loss back during the 1989-90 season, but this will be a homecoming of sorts with former legendary Terp and head coach Juan Dixon returning to the sidelines inside the Xfinity Center. Dixon was the catalyst on Maryland’s 2002 national championship team alongside Steve Blake, Chris Wilcox, Byron Mouton and Lonny Baxter before being selected 17th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2002 NBA Draft. Dixon began his coaching career as an assistant under former head coach Mark Turgeon and was first head coach for the women’s team at District of Columbia. Dixon took over Coppin State ahead of the 2017-18 season and is 42-108 overall through five seasons.
Meanwhile, Maryland is 3-0 against Saint Peter’s all-time while the Terps will look to improve to 15-0 all-time against UMBC.
Maryland announced the home-and-home series with UCLA on Wednesday morning with the first matchup set for December 14 in College Park with the return visit set for December 22, 2023 at the Pauley Pavilion. "My programs have always played challenging non-conference opponents and we are continuing that here at Maryland," said new head coach Kevin Willard via release. "We are excited to play one of the most storied programs in college basketball history as UCLA will come to College Park this upcoming season. Being close friends with UCLA head coach Mick Cronin, this is an exciting opportunity for us to play on a national stage. I know our fans will be enthusiastic about UCLA coming to XFINITY and I look forward to seeing them come out in full force."

I love everything about this schedule. Even the non marquee opponents have a good reason for being there.
