Maryland football now has its third commitment of the 2027 cycle in the fold, now at a position of need.
Channelview (TX) wide receiver Davion Vanderbilt has announced his commitment to Maryland, becoming the first wide receiver in the class.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver is fresh off his first visit to Maryland this past weekend with assistant Zac Spavital leading the way on the Texas native. Vanderbilt also becomes the second pledge out of Texas in as many cycles, joining former Willis interior offensive lineman Day'Jon Moore in College Park.
As a junior, Vanderbilt posted 954 all purpose yards including 805 receiving yards on 39 catches en route to being named an All District selection. Baylor joins Maryland as another Power Four school who offered Vanderbilt, who posted a 22.42 seconds in the 200 meter dash this spring.
He now joins Virginia athlete Levi Babin and Pennsylvania running back Mekhi Graham as early commitments in the 2027 cycle, while Penn. athlete Jerome Ford kicked off the 2028 cycle earlier this month.
