Maryland included in top six for Virginia DL T-Ron Richardson

Maryland football is coming off a pair of in-state commitments after tight end Javonte Williams and athlete Jianni Davis went public with their decisions, bringing the total number of 2026 commits to nine. And after hosting a Virginia lineman for an official visit last month, Maryland is in the top group for another regional target.

Hopewell (Va.) three-star defensive lineman T-Ron Richardson included Maryland in his top six alongside South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Florida and Oklahoma.

Richardson, a 6-foot-3 lineman, arrived in College Park for a midweek official visit beginning on June 10 where he got a chance to spend time building his relationship with defensive coordinator Ted Monachino.

“Coach Monachino has a lot of experience, a lot of juice so it was really good sitting down and seeing what he has planned for me,” Richardson told IBG after the visit.

Maryland jumped into the picture alongside a long list of established suitors with assistant Latrell Scott spearheading efforts.

“Coach [Latrell] Scott, he came down to my school, that was my first time meeting him,” Richardson previously told IBG. “I felt like he was a good guy, he’s honest. I like him a lot, really good person.”

Virginia Tech will look to hold off Penn State and South Carolina among others ahead of his scheduled August 26 commitment as Richardson, who also drew a look as an offensive lineman by Auburn, starred as a two-way player for Hopewell. As a junior, Richardson was named second-team All-Region after posting 52 tackles, 19 TFLs and one sack.
