Maryland made the trenches a priority in the 2024 cycle and with one offensive lineman already in the fold in Kahlil Stewart, two more priority linemen included the Terps in their top group. Top-100 prospect Jaelyne Matthews released his top six on Sunday night with Georgia, Maryland, Miami (FL), Rutgers, Syracuse and Tennessee still in the mix. https://twitter.com/JaelyneMatthew3/status/1764451773148721229 Maryland has been steady with Tom's River (NJ) four-star through his junior season. The four-star tackle target made his way to College Park for a pair of games last fall as offensive analyst Luke Butera helped the Terps crack into his recruitment with Luke Butera, Maryland analyst and a former Tom's River lineman, aiding early efforts. Matthews listed the Terps among the schools recruiting him the hardest heading into the spring with offensive coordinator Josh Gattis and offensive line coach Brian Braswell leading the way. “I’m definitely considering Maryland. They’re definitely in the running for me. I’ve spent a lot of time with the coaches and built a good relationship with them,” he told IBG. “I like Maryland a lot. When I got there it felt like home. It wasn’t the only school that I felt like home, but they’re definitely some things that set them aside from other schools.” Matthews has an official visit to Tennessee set for June 14 and Georgia set for June 21, while the four-star previously told IBG that Maryland was in line to receive an official visit as well. “It fits the school feeling that I love. It’s not super duper big school and it has a really good following from New Jersey to Maryland. I feel like I fit the culture there.” Maryland also made the top five for Good Counsel (MD) three-star interior lineman Gavin Crawford on Monday alongside Duke, Florida, Syracuse and West Virginia. Crawford, a 6-foot-2.5, 320-pound guard, told IBG over the weekend he's tentatively scheduled to officially visit Maryland beginning June 13 as the hometown team has long been in line to receive an extended visit. “I talked to all of them a lot, I talked to coach , I got a chance to sit down with coach Locksley too. It’s about staying home and building a brand of your own. It’s just keeping guys home. All the big time guys who are in Maryland to stay in Maryland and realizing how close Maryland is to being great,” Crawford said last month. The local lineman has long been a priority target for the Terps with outside linebacker coach James Thomas leading the way as he and head coach Mike Locksley made the trip through the Olney, MD powerhouse in January. Crawford has made himself a frequent visitor in College Park dating back to last summer as he and Eidan Buchanan visited in late July. Crawford visited again for the season-opening win vs. Towson and most recently for the basketball game vs. Michigan State back in January. Jaelyne Matthews is rated a four-star prospect and a 92 overall by On3, checking in as the 75th-best prospect nationally. Gavin Crawford is rated a three-star prospect and an 87 overall by On3.
