Big Ten announces details for Maryland football's 2026 Big Ten road opener

Maryland football will shift attention toward the Big Ten opener when they host UCLA this upcoming weekend, but details for the first Big Ten road game have been finalized.

Maryland will face Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 3 for a 4 PM kickoff on FS1, the Big Ten announced on Monday.

The Huskers are preparing for their Big Ten opener this upcoming weekend when they take on Michigan State in East Lansing for a 5 PM ET kickoff. Nebraska has opened the season by outscoring Ohio, Bowling Green and North Dakota by a combined score of 139-35 through the first three weeks of the season. Head coach Matt Rhule is looking to guide the program to its third consecutive bowl appearance with Nebraska likely to be favored.

Nebraska has won three of the four all-time meetings between the two teams, though this will mark the first time that Maryland has faced Nebraska in Lincoln since Jack Howes drilled the game-winning 24 yard field goal in a 13-10 win in 2023. Yet Maryland could have additional ammo heading into this season's road matchup given it marks a chance for the program to avenge last season's 34-31 loss in College Park, one of three October losses that derailed the 2025 slate.

Maryland, meanwhile, is coming off a 35-26 loss vs. Virginia Tech will open conference play this weekend looking to avoid dropping to .500 overall when they host UCLA for a 1:30 PM ET kickoff.
