Maryland now has its first quarterback commitment of the 2027 cycle.
Evans (FL) three-star quarterback Will Jackson has announced his pledge, committing to Maryland over Boston College, Liberty and Duke among others.
Jackson is wrapping up his first official visit and second visit to campus after making the trip north for a spring practice, though his relationships with the staff run deep.
That includes offensive coordinator Clint Trickett, who offered Jackson last fall when he still served as the offensive coordinator at Jacksonville State. Jackson’s older brother also committed to Jacksonville State during Trickett’s time with the program, while the connection carried over when Maryland announced Trickett as the new offensive coordinator. Maryland jumped back into the mix with a verbal offer while Jackson also got a chance to meet safeties coach and area recruiter, James Thomas, after transferring from Camden County (GA) to Jones (FL) ahead of his senior season.
He also becomes the first commitment out of Florida in Maryland’s class and third out of the first official visit weekend alongside safety Kevin Jackson and offensive lineman Caleb Canty.
As a junior at Camden County (GA), Jackson completed 64% of his passes while throwing for 24 touchdowns and over 1,900 yards to five interceptions, while adding 251 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Jackson transferred to Evans (FL) for his senior season, playing at the same school that former Maryland safety Brandon Jacob once starred at.
