For the second consecutive week, Maryland football drew votes in both the updated AP and coaches polls with the postseason outlook still optimistic ahead of week six.
Maryland climbed five spots and drew 17 points in the updated coaches poll to unofficially rank 30th nationally, while also climbing three spots to unofficially rank 32nd nationally after drawing seven points in the AP poll. But head coach Mike Locksley’s team will now have to back it up against a Washington team coming off its first loss of the season, while the four new West Coast conference members are 2-5 in road games on the East Coast since the start of the 2024 season following Oregon’s win at Penn State this weekend.
Saturday marks Family Weekend in College Park as Maryland ran promos, including discounted tickets to the Washington game, through the bye week with a near-full SECU Stadium expected for a 3:30 PM kickoff. Maryland will now look to capitalize on consecutive conference home games before heading west to face UCLA, the school that QB Justyn Martin transferred from before becoming a Terp this past offseason.
ESPN’s updated FPI also points to a 91.6% chance that Maryland reaches bowl eligibility with the Terps a mainstay in updated bowl projections heading into week six.
