Maryland (14-13, 6-10) vs. Rutgers (14-12, 6-9)When & where: Feb. 25, 2024 | 12:00 PM | Jersey Mike's Arena TV: BTN Radio: 105.7 FM (Baltimore) | 980 AM (DC) | SiriusXM channel 381 Betting odds: Maryland +2 | O/U: 129.5 Maryland will look to remain above .500 overall and pick up just the fourth win outside of College Park this season when head coach Kevin Willard and the Terps make the trip to Piscataway for the second matchup of the season against Rutgers. While Maryland dominated the series under its former head coach, the Terps will now look to pick up its third win in the last eight matchups against Rutgers. In the last matchup, Maryland took a narrow two-point lead into halftime before Rutgers stormed back to retake the lead for the final 16 minutes of the game. The veteran Terps trio -- Jahmir Young, Julian Reese and Donta Scott -- led an 8-0 run to make it a one-point game with 65 seconds left before Rutgers responded with the go-ahead layup that ultimately iced the game. Maryland hasn't had much success since then, falling in three of their last four games, but Rutgers will also look to get back on track. After following up the win in College Park with a 22-point win against Wisconsin at home, then a three-point win against Northwestern, Rutgers will look to end a two-game slide after losing to Minnesota and Purdue last week. Jeremiah Williams finished with 14 points while shooting over 50% from the field in the last matchup before being named Big Ten Player of the Week, proving himself as a catalyst for the Scarlet Knights since his return. The veteran has posted double-figures in five of the last six games, while Cliff Omoruyi has proven to be one of the nation's best rim protectors. Mawot Mag, meanwhile, is coming off consecutive 15-point games for the first time in his career, but still, Sunday's contest could be a carbon copy of the first matchup. Maryland (69.9) and Rutgers (66.9) sit at the bottom of the Big Ten in scoring offense, along with inside the top three in scoring defense with the Terps (65) allowing 1.6 fewer points than Rutgers thus far. Rutgers enters the weekend inside the top-ten nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, non-steal turnover percentage and block percentage, per KenPom. Meanwhile, Donta Scott enters the weekend 27 points away from passing Melo Trimble for 14th all-time in scoring and 24 boards away from passing TomMcMillen for eighth all-time. Related Links
