In-state lineman talks growing relationship with Maryland, visit plans

2025 Rock Creek (MD) defensive lineman Nahsir Taylor has made himself a known commodity on the recruiting trail ever since the end of his freshman season. Now, the 6-foot-2, 260-pound lineman is back in the weight room where he’s looking to add another ten pounds of muscle this offseason to become the anchor for Rock Creek’s defensive line next fall.

Maryland became the first offer following Taylor’s freshman season as Georgia Tech, Boston College, Rutgers, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Penn State and Georgia followed suit. Now fielding a double-digit offer list, Taylor said it will be Maryland who gets his first visit.

“I’m starting to set up dates now but Maryland will be the first spot. I’m trying to get up there the first few weeks of March,” Taylor told IBG. New Maryland assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim has led the way thus far as he makes the DMV a focus in 2025 and beyond, but it’s player-turned-coach David Brownlee who has given the Terps another strong connection to Taylor.

“I talk to coach Aazaar consistently for the past two weeks. The GA, David Brownlee, we’ve connected pretty well. We actually played a game together. He won but the series is tied right now so we’ve gotta break that tie,” Taylor joked. “We actually share a couple of personal things and stuff so we actually got to know each other, ask a couple about family. I asked some stuff, so we know each other pretty well and know quite a bit about each other.

Taylor will look to build on the early stages of his relationship with head coach Mike Locksley beginning this spring. “I met him at a practice and a couple times before that,” he added.

What makes the Terps stick out?

“It’s home and they do a good job of keeping up with me,” Taylor added.
