With his recruitment narrowing focus and his commitment looming, Spalding (MD) three-star cornerback Jayden Shipps released his top seven schools ahead of his scheduled June official visits. Indiana, Maryland, NC State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin remain in the mix for Shipps, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback. The three-star prospect was able to reach this point after taking over ten unofficial visits beginning in March through the end of April as he sifted through his double-digit offer list. Maryland has been in the mix with Shipps since his junior season after becoming a repeat visitor in College Park alongside Malik Washington and Trent Gillis, who is committed to Navy. With co-defensive coordinators Brian Williams and Aazaar Abdul-Rahim leading the charge, Shipps returned to Maryland for both the first spring practice and the spring game as the priority cornerback target is set to return to campus this weekend for his official visit. “It’s actually a really good fit and transition because at Spalding, we play five and Maryland plays five DBs too. The way their guys move is really similar to how we move so style, scheme fit, it definitely feels like it’s a smooth transition at Maryland. I feel like they play very close to how we play too,” Shipps said after his last official visit. In addition to Maryland, Shipps has official visits set to Wisconsin, NC State and Indiana while Michigan State was also involved. Shipps is expected to make his decision following his visits, while his teammate -- quarterback Malik Washington -- is set to commit on June 28. Jayden Shipps is rated a three-star prospect and an 87 overall by On3, checking in as the 22nd-best prospect in Maryland and 75th-best cornerback in the country. Related Links
