It’s expected to be a busy offseason in College Park with attrition on the way, and on Friday afternoon, second-year forward Noah Batchelor became the first name to announce his offseason plans.
“I am officially entering the transfer portal. Excited for the next chapter,” he wrote on X. The transfer portal officially opens on Monday, March 18.

Noah Batchelor, a former three-star signee in the 2022 class, ends his career in College Park after two seasons where he appeared in 48 games and started in just two.
Maryland was expected to have some level of outside shooting with Chance Stephens and Batchelor both tabbed as three-point specialists, but that never came to fruition for Kevin Willard. Stephens never suited up after suffering a near season-ending knee injury during offseason workouts, but Batchelor’s shooting potential never came to fruition in College Park.
Batchelor averaged just 1.7 points in his time as a Terp, shooting just 34.1% from the field and 32.4% from deep. He posted career-highs in the season-finale loss vs. Penn State after finishing with nine points in 23 minutes, but head coach Kevin Willard and the staff will look elsewhere in 2023-24 to find perimeter scoring with more attrition expected.
Batchelor was the first pledge after Willard was announced as Maryland’s next head coach as the Frederick native wasted no time pouncing on the chance to return home. Batchelor began his high school career at St. Maria Goretti before transferring to Glenelg Country School. The three-star prospect ended his career at IMG Academy.
