Maryland women’s basketball will open its postseason run at home for the second consecutive season.
Maryland was announced as a two-seed and will open its NCAA Tournament run against 15th-seed Holy Cross on Friday.

Sunday’s selection marks the 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Brenda Frese and 17th all-time. Maryland enters Friday 18-3 all-time in first round games and 17-0 in first round games under Frese. Maryland’s second-seed marks the 22nd time, including 18th under Frese, that Maryland has earned a top four seed and the first since 2021.
After resetting the roster following a turbulent offseason, head coach Brenda Frese did more than reload as the roster was infused with experienced guards. But it was none other than Diamond Miller, a unanimous All-Big Ten first team selection, who led the way for Maryland while sophomore Shyanne Sellers was named All-Big Ten First Team by the media and second team by coaches. Miller leads the team in both scoring (19.7) and rebounds (6.5) while former Princeton guard Abby Meyers sits second on the team in scoring (14.5).
Maryland finished the regular season with an identical 11-2 mark both at home and on the road with signature wins over Baylor, Notre Dame, UConn and Iowa. Maryland beat four top ten opponents this season as they finished 25-6 (15-3)
Maryland had a chance at a one-seed heading into the Big Ten Tournament, but after an 89-84 loss in the semifinals in the rubber match against Iowa, the Terps dropped a seed line.
Maryland is 1-1 all time against Holy Cross with the last meeting back in 1997. If they win, Maryland will face the winner of Arizona-West Virginia on Sunday.
