Maryland OL Corey Bullock declares for 2024 NFL Draft

There was an outside chance that Maryland could return at least one starter in 2024 with Corey Bullock’s official plans not yet solidified, but that was changed on Friday afternoon after Bullock announced his intention to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bullock was awaiting word on a waiver for a potential sixth season for reasons stemming from his freshman season at NC Central, but his college career is officially over with his decision finalized.

“First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to God. To my parents and grandparents, I could never begin to express enough gratitude. You guys were always in my corner, supporting me through every life decision I made. Thank you for embodying the true essence of being just a call away. My family, coaching staff, and everyone who has been part of this journey, you’ve made these part 4 years the best time of my life. I deeply appreciate the endless encouragement, unwavering support, and the lifetime of memories you’ve helped me create. I am forever grateful.”

“North Carolina Central: Coach Oliver, Bulldog, and Coach TC, thank you for accepting me as a young kid and believing in me. Thanks for providing a home away from home, for nurturing me, and equipping me with the knowledge to play at the next level. To my teammates, distance won’t change the bond we share. I’m grateful for your daily motivation, for keeping me grounded, and for being my brothers. The relationships we’ve built are priceless.”

“University of Maryland: Coach Locksley, thank you for the opportunity to play for this program. Coach Braswell and coach RD, thank you for pushing me in everything I did. Your time, effort and energy invested in me, both on and off the field, helped me grow into the best version of myself. To my teammates, your warm welcome and lessons in perseverance mean the world to me. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to close my college career here at home.”

“I am excited and proud to announce that I will be pursuing my lifelong dream of playing at the next level by entering my name into the 2024 NFL Draft,” Bullock wrote on X.

After entering the transfer portal following the 2022 season, Bullock initially committed to Cincinnati before taking a last-minute official visit to Maryland to set the stage for his flip. It was a decision that paid immediate dividends to Maryland’s starting offensive line where he stepped in as an impact addition and started all 12 games he was available in 2023.

Bullock was arguably the second-best lineman behind DJ Glaze, while Gottlieb Ayedze will also look to hear his name called in the 2024 NFL Draft. While Glaze has been invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and Ayedze headed to the East-West Game, Bullock has surprisingly not been invited to any postseason game as he looks to make the transition to the pros. Maryland had two linemen drafted last year in Spencer Anderson and Jaelyn Duncan.

Bullock, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman, signed with NC Central out of Gwynn Park High School in the 2019 class.
