Maryland football releases injury report vs. Northwestern

Maryland will have multiple starters back on Saturday with a shortened injury report released for Saturday’s contest.

Maryland has announced that LB Neeo Avery, WR Ryan Manning, DB Caleb Atogho, OL Billy Malloy and OL Kevin Kalonji are all ruled out for Saturday’s game. Cornerback Tarheeb Still is also the lone player listed as questionable, though head coach Mike Locksley noted on Tuesday he expects his senior starter to return against the Wildcats.

“Dante Trader [Jr.] has been practicing this week. Corey Dyches, who missed a week ago, is back. We have most of our guys back healthy, ready to go,” Locksley said during Tuesday’s press conference. “And like I said, the bye week couldn’t have come at a better time. [I] would have loved to enter the bye week with a little better feeling than what we have now. We’ve gone three weeks if you count the bye week without having success. As I told our team, it’s important to try to flush that toilet that’s been sitting there for three weeks.”

Maryland is also expected to return safety Dante Trader Jr., guard Corey Bullock and tight end Corey Dyches against Illinois, while sophomore running back Ramon Brown is expected to make his season debut against Northwestern.

“Expect Ramon to be able to create, to have some opportunities this week,” Locksley added on Tuesday.

Northwestern will roll with Brendan Sullivan under center with quarterback Ben Bryant ruled out for the third consecutive game. Northwestern will also be without wide receiver Jacob Gill, defensive back Nigel Williams, wide receiver Frank Covey, wide receiver Ray Niro, defensive lineman Richie Hagarty, tight end Chris Petrucci and defensive lineman Brendan Flakes.

Kickoff is set for noon EST on the Big Ten Network.
