Local four-star set to return to Maryland, talks new suitors

Friendship (DC) four-star defensive tackle Bryce Jenkins was back at Maryland for their third spring practice and while the 6-foot-4, 325-pound lineman has been a familiar face in College Park over the last year, his latest visit gave him a chance to get a closer look into the coaching style on the Terps’ defensive staff.

“It was good just to see everything come together for Maryland. I watched the whole defensive meeting then they split up, so I sat there with coach [Brian] Williams in position meetings and watched how he works with his guys,” Jenkins told IBG. “I feel like it gave me an idea of how I fit in and coach Williams, coach [Mike] Locksley, coach [Aazaar] Abdul-Rahim, they’re saying I fit in perfectly with what they run.”

Maryland has made the two-way lineman a priority along the defensive side of the ball in the 2025 cycle, but the arrival of co-defensive coordinator Aazaar Abdul-Rahim made the Terps a prime player in his recruitment with Tennessee the main competition. “I’m interested to see everything but I like the feeling that I have when I go to Maryland,” Jenkins previously told IBG about his interest in Maryland. “It’s home but they make me feel at home already, so it’s a welcoming feeling.”

Tennessee will get their crack at the D.C. four-star this weekend for their spring game as he and his mom make the trip down to Knoxville, while Jenkins’ lone unofficial visit set beyond that is for Maryland’s spring game on the 27th. While Maryland and Tennessee have battled at the top heading into April, he’s shifted his official visit schedule around with a trip to Tennessee the weekend of June 7 and Maryland the weekend of June 14. He’s keeping the door open for additional schools as two west coast suitors have joined the mix.

“I might take [official visits] to Colorado and Oregon,” Jenkins added, with potential trips to both schools marking his first visits to each. The Ducks became the latest school to extend an offer over the weekend while new Buffs assistant Devin Rispress, who was an integral part in Darrell Jackson landing at Maryland, has built on his previous relationship with the four-star prospect.

“I’ve been talking to the head of recruiting a lot. He just got there, but he got there from Florida A&M and I’ve known him from then so we’ve just been talking since he got there.”

Bryce Jenkins is rated a four-star prospect and a 90 overall by On3, sitting as the third-best prospect in DC and 273rd-best in the country.
