Virginia receiver set to return to Maryland

Maryland will have one top target back on campus with the start of spring ball right around the corner.

King George (VA) three-star wide receiver Chanz Wiggins will visit Maryland on April 8, he tells IBG.

The 6-foot-2.5, 200-pound receiver was looking to visit Maryland in January with wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer leading the way, but with Latrell Scott still expected to join the staff, the Terps will have another with strong area ties working to entrench themselves in the mix.

Penn State, North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech are among the schools in the mix with all five summer official visits expected. “I think I’ll have top schools late in the spring and commit either during the summer or after my senior season,” Wiggins said. “I want to just focus on football at that time.”

Wiggins is a big-framed wideout who also trains with former Maryland receiver and new St. Frances assistant Torrey Smith. While he was also named first team all state as a defensive back following his junior season, Wiggins’ length and athleticism have made him a priority recruit for the regional schools.

Wiggins is rated a three-star prospect and an 87 overall by On3, sitting as the 18th-best prospect in Virginia.
