The list: DMV flavor heads to Maryland for Michigan State game

Head coach Mike Locksley and the football staff will play host to several local targets when Maryland men’s basketball hosts Michigan State for a noon tipoff at the Xfinity Center on Sunday.

One 2024 target expected to make his way to campus for an unofficial visit is St. Frances (MD) three-star CB Kevyn Humes. Maryland made the top group for Humes after announcing his move to reclassify from 2025 to 2024, and the Terps have become a more active player in his recruitment over the last week with new assistant Aazaar Abdul-Rahim taking over the pursuit. Penn State scratched their official visit with space an issue, while USC and Florida are slated to host him for official visits. Maryland, however, is now expected to host the speedster for an official visit potentially next weekend, Jan. 25. He won’t be the only 2024 on campus as 2024 signee Judah Jenkins will also visit where he’ll get a chance to meet his new position coach face-to-face, while blue-chip safety Faheem Delane is a guest of Jenkins on Sunday as the Terps work to get back into the mix.

After checking in on the four-star earlier this week, Friendship (DC) four-star Bryce Jenkins tells IBG he’ll be back in College Park on Sunday where he’s been a familiar face through the fall. Maryland also hired Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, who once coached at Friendship before making the college jump, to bolster their efforts but the initial pursuit from head coach Mike Locksley and defensive line coach Brian Williams made the Terps a legitimate early contender.

One day after taking in Penn State, Maryland will host several cornerback targets in Quince Orchard (MD) Aydan West, Gonzaga (DC) Devenchi Arnold, Dundalk (MD) Keith Barnes and North Caroline (MD) Zymear Smith. Maryland became the first Big Ten offer for West back in the fall as the 6-foot-1 target had been steadily hearing from the Terps heading into his junior year with assistant James Thomas doing well establishing an early rapport. Smith, meanwhile, will be back in College Park for his second basketball game as a recruit one day after visiting Penn State. Smith sits high on the recruiting board with a strong rapport with Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, his lead recruiter, and has the Terps as his team to beat heading into the weekend. Arnold, meanwhile, has the Terps in his top group early and visited this fall while Barnes has been a consistent target ever since late summer as the Terps make Dundalk HS a bigger focus.

DeMatha (MD) WR Emmanuel Dyson, who we profiled last week, will make his way back to College Park as the staff made the WCAC powerhouse among its first stops when the open period began two weeks ago. Paint Branch (MD) DE Yvan Kemajou has been on the radar through his junior season before Maryland became the first Power Five offer back in mid-November as assistant James Thomas leads the way for the local edge rusher.

Good Counsel duo, OT Eidan Buchanan and IOL Gavin Crawford, are expected to make their way to campus as assistant James Thomas has led the way through the summer into the fall with Maryland an early player in both recruitments. Maryland will also host Maret (DC) IOL Grayson Reid on Sunday as the local lineman also visited for the Virginia game back in September as offensive line coach Brian Braswell leads the way early. Maryland also offered 2026 Maret (DC) ATH DJ Hill earlier this month and he’s expected in College Park on Sunday.

Maryland jumped into the mix for McDonogh (MD) speedster Brandon Finney on Saturday night and the 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver will return the favor with a trip to campus on Sunday. Finney was among the local prospects who visited Penn State on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 2026 Calvert Hall (MD) wide receiver Chris Hewitt will make his way back to College Park after becoming a familiar face with assistant Gunter Brewer leading the way early.
