’25 Gonzaga DL Rex Stinchcomb reacts to first Power Five offer from Maryland

Maryland was among the finalists for four-star DD Holmes in the 2024 cycle before coming up short against Florida State, but they’ll be a player at Gonzaga (DC) again in the 2025 cycle with a number of targets on the board early. Maryland has been involved with four-star Kainoa Winston since the early stages of the cycle while remaining consistent with cornerback Devenchi Arnold since late summer. Maryland also became the first Power Five offer for wide receiver Lincoln Fisher last week, one of three Eagles recognized in All-MET selections, but Maryland also became the first Power Five offer for defensive lineman Rex Stinchcomb.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound was able to connect with co-defensive coordinator Brian Williams last week after the junior lineman was on the radar through his junior season.

“It felt great. Coach Willilams, he’s a great guy. We didn’t have school that day so I was home. He went in and was talking with our head coach [Randy Trivers] and told my coach he wants to offer me. My head coach told him to get in touch with me, got in touch around 7 PM over the phone. They offered me then so it was a great feeling,” Stinchcomb told IBG. “It was kind of a brief conversation but I talked about getting up for a visit with my head coach so I’m excited for that.”

Stinchcomb previously held offers from Buffalo and Charlotte, while he added he spoke with “eight or nine schools on Thursday” with more Power Five schools monitoring him. Being a local prospect gives Stinchcomb a chance to add an offer he’s already plenty familiar with. In this case, he picks up an offer from a school he once visited as a kid.

“I’ve been to a few games when I was younger but I haven’t been as a recruit yet. The gameday experience is pretty cool there and the facilities are out of this world, really nice.”

Getting a chance to see more of Jones-Hill House is now his next priority.

“I want to see more of the facilities. I’ve seen a good amount but seeing it all would be awesome. Then just seeing the rest of campus. I haven’t really seen much of the campus. When we’ve been buy it’s been the football stadium and fields.”

Rex Stinchcomb is not yet rated by On3.
