The list: blue-chip safety, top targets visiting Maryland for spring game

After watching a steady stream of top local talent make their way to College Park through the spring, more blue-chip prospects will make their way to Maryland for the annual Red-White game as the staff looks to capitalize on its footprint. We break down the names expected on Saturday:

2025

Good Counsel (MD) four-star safety Faheem Delane
North Caroline (MD) four-star CB Zymear Smith
Friendship (DC) four-star DT Bryce Jenkins
McDonogh (MD) four-star ATH Jeff Exinor
Calvert Hall (MD) three-star TE JT Taggart
Hayfield (VA) three-star RB Jeff Overton Jr.
Good Counsel (MD) three-star LB Justin Thompson
Quince Orchard (MD) three-star CB Aydan West
Spalding (MD) three-star SAF Jayden Shipps
Good Counsel (MD) three-star IOL Gavin Crawford
Norcom (VA) three-star WR Matthew Outten
King George (VA) LB Charles Johnson
Milford Mill (MD) IOL Amory Hills
Coppell (TX) WR Harry Hassman

No school has hosted Faheem Delane in his recruitment more than Maryland and the five-star will be back in College Park for at least his second visit this spring. Ohio State has set the bar in his recruitment, but Maryland will get another crack at the blue-chip safety with an official visit set for May 31. Maryland is also in line to get an official visit from Zymear Smith with his recruitment expected to remain slightly open into the fall, and the presence of Aazaar Abdul-Rahim gives the Terps a consistent ‘in’ for the Eastern Shore standout. Bryce Jenkins didn’t end up making the trip to Colorado this week as he follows through on plans to visit Maryland this weekend with Tennessee still the main competition. Virginia Tech has set the bar in the recruitments of both Jeff Exinor and Matthew Outten, but the duo return to campus with Maryland in line to receive official visits from both.

Tight ends coach Kevin Sumlin has been in consistent pursuit of JT Taggart as this weekend marks his second visit to campus since the start of spring ball with West Virginia the primary competition heading into official visit season. Jeff Overton could shape up to be a regional battle with Ohio State still the wildcard as he and his dad make their way to campus with Latrell Scott doing a great job in his recruitment with Maryland in the mix for nearly two years. While Gavin Crawford has seen new interest come in heading into the evaluation period, Maryland has remained a constant in his recruitment with plans for an official visit still set in stone. The staff is still monitoring his teammate, LB Justin Thompson, with sporadic contact through the spring while Aydan West, who excluded Maryland from his top group on Friday, remains on the list of a long group of local cornerbacks in the 2025 cycle.

Jayden Shipps will begin to watch his recruitment take ship after taking double-digit visits through the spring, but Maryland will be the school to host him and four-star Malik Washington last with plans for an official visit the weekend of June 21. Maryland also extended athlete Charles Johnson an offer last fall while Baltimore lineman Amory Hills has been a repeat visitor since the fall.

2026

Hammond (MD) DE Kyon Hairston
St. John’s (DC) four-star CB Hakim Satterwhite
Joppatowne (MD) five-star DE Zion Elee
Loyola Blakefield (MD) WR Khary Adams
McDonough (MD) LB Nick Abrams
Riverdale Baptist (MD) three-star ATH Eltonio Hicks

Saturday will mark the third visit for Elee, and for good reason. The Terps have done well in his recruitment early with the blue-chip prospect establishing a strong early connection with the coaching staff, leaving more more than receptive to the idea of staying close to home. Similar could be said for Hakim Satterwhite, who will be back on campus this weekend with Aazaar Abdul-Rahim a steady force in the early stages of his recruitment. Hairston was on campus for the Terps’ first spring practice, while Hicks is a recent transfer from Rock Creek whose drawn early Power Four interest and is entrenched on the Terps’ local 2026 board. Khary Adams has proven himself as a track star with a 10.7 in the 100-meter with Saturday marking his second visit this spring.

2027

Clayton (NC) CB Akedran Crumel
Hun School (NJ) IOL Greg Thomas

Crumel, a 6-foot-1 corner, has picked up a pair of early offers with West Virginia and South Carolina involved while 6-foot-5, 330-pound lineman Greg Thomas visits for the second time within a week

Meanwhile, 2024 signees Josiah McLaurin, Mike McMonigle and Khristian Martin will be back on campus while 2025 verbals CJ Smith and Julien Horton make their way back to their future school.
