The spring transfer portal doesn’t open for another week, but the first player has announced his departure from the program after WR Braeden Wisloski announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.
Wisloski recorded five catches for 75 yards in 11 games in 2024 and posted six catches for 73 yards during his two seasons with the program.
Wisloski also notched the program’s first kick return for a touchdown since Javon Leake in 2019 after the then-freshman wide receiver kicked off the scoring for Maryland with a 98-yard kick return vs. Virginia in 2023.
"The true freshman there, Braeden Wisloski,” head coach Mike Locksley said following the game. “I’m sure a bunch of people question ‘hey, why is this guy back there?’ Especially after the first two decisions he made on those first returns. But the only third one you saw while we did. He’s the guy that has the ability to make explosive plays," head coach Mike Locksley said following Friday's win. "He did it a bunch doing training camp and so we’re looking for a guy that can give us a spark in the special teams return game. He was able to do that and he kind of got us going.”
Wisloski was one of five wide receivers to sign with Maryland in 2023 with Sean Williams and Ryan Manning, who was with the first-team offense during Tuesday’s open portion of practice, still on the active roster. Wisloski joins WR Ezekiel Avit and WR Josh Richards as other wideouts from his recruiting class who have also departed.
“At the receiver position, losing the talent and depth that we had with the guys that are leaving our program, was really important to bring in the right kind of guys to fill those voids and we felt like we hit the mark on both those necessary needs,” Locksley said on signing day.
