One day after Ashley Owusu, Angel Reese, Channise Lewis and Taisiya Kozkova entered the transfer portal, redshirt junior Mimi Collins became the latest Terp to enter the transfer portal. Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post first reported the news on Wednesday afternoon.
Copeland added that Collins “decision is education-based, looking for a graduate degree program dealing with communications.” The 6-foot-3 Lousiana native was named All-Big Ten honorable mention following the 2020-21 season after posing double figures in 15 of her 29 games during her first season with the program. Collins saw action in every game, started 15 and scored in double figures in nine games during the 2021-22 season.
Miller, meanwhile, missed ten of her first 12 games due to knee injury and will undergo surgery on Thursday, April 7 with an expected recovery timeline of 3-6 months. The junior guard now becomes arguably the face of the program following this week’s news and will pair herself with former Florida guard Lavender Briggs in the Terps’ backcourt. Miller scored in double figures in all but five of the 22 games played this season and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team.
With the flurry of offseason moves, head coach Brenda Frese returns five players to next year’s roster in freshman guard Shyanne Sellers, junior wing Faith Masonius and freshman forward Emma Chardon.
